Since the inception of the Scientific Esthetics Symposium in 2021, our mission has been to provide estheticians with a higher-education online platform focused on academics and science. Our ethos is to provide well-researched, non-traditional, and thought-provoking information to our community. While the overall theme of the symposium changes each year, our focus remains on non-product-aligned higher education. The ellipses featured on our icon represent chemistry, health, wellness, ethics, dermal sciences, philosophy, and electrophysiology. We also seek to symbolize the unification of ethics, professionalism, and knowledge, representing the exemplary esthetic professional.

Our goal is to unite estheticians with top-notch global educators at a single event. Dr. Erin Madigan-Fleck is a renowned expert in dermatological skin sciences, clinical esthetics, and natural health, with more than 40 years of experience. She is a naturopathic physician, licensed master cosmetologist-esthetician, esthetic instructor, and has a dermatology tech certificate.
Dr. Erin serves on the Educational Board of the International Association of Applied Corneotherapy in Germany and is a member of the advisory board for Skin Inc. Magazine. She holds numerous certifications and memberships in the United States and internationally.
Dr. Madigan-Fleck is deeply committed to the esthetics industry, with a focus on academia, education, and research. For decades, her articles have appeared in esthetic, cosmetic chemistry, and wellness publications, including Skin Inc., Les Nouvelles Esthétiques, and Euro Cosmetics magazines.
With her focus and passion for academia, education, and research, she avidly strives to bring higher education to the esthetic platform.
Dr. Erin has been recognized as a visionary, innovator, and early pioneer for integrating esthetics, natural health, and nutrition long before the holistic approach gained popularity in the esthetic industry. In 2003, Les Nouvelles Esthetique Magazine published her work "The Whole Picture on Holistic Esthetics” and “Back to Nature - The Healing Power of Naturopathy”. She received high acclaim for her groundbreaking lecture “Nutritional Influences on Skin Disorders” at the International Congress of Esthetics in 2004, where she introduced functional nutritional concepts and skin health to the esthetic industry.
With over 35 years of experience as a licensed esthetic instructor, she has taught at esthetic schools and developed fully accredited curricula. Dr. Erin has educated thousands of estheticians, massage therapists, cosmetologists, and medical professionals at schools, trade shows, and institutes.
Her advocacy for higher education is committed to improving the quality of esthetic training through continuing education, demonstrating her unwavering commitment and fostering educational growth for years to come.


Each year, the SES selects an Educational Ambassador, an outstanding esthetic professional who embodies the ideals and successes that esthetic professionals strive to attain throughout their careers. Our ambassador represents the core values of the SES and has consistently demonstrated dedication to advancing esthetic education, excelling in both the public and professional arenas by owning a successful practice and training consultancy.

Kris Campbell is a licensed esthetician, entrepreneur, and philanthropist, all of which have contributed significantly to her current professional standing. Kris is recognized as a leading authority in treating and nourishing sensitive skin and related concerns. Holding degrees in Supply Chain Management and Retail Merchandising, she transitioned into the skincare industry, confident that her educational background would complement her career path. In 2002, Kris obtained her esthetician license and has since been active in the professional skincare sector.
Her early career was distinguished by her role at an FDA laboratory, where she served as Special Projects Manager and Director of Sales for a decade. During this period, she identified the critical need for high-quality skincare products tailored to individuals with highly sensitive and health-compromised skin. She was also a part-owner of a skincare brand specializing in oncology cosmeceuticals and oncology esthetics. Kris envisioned expanding the company's scope to serve a broader clientele with sensitive and sensitized skin, beyond oncology patients.
Kris is esteemed as a pillar of the professional skincare community. She has contributed articles to several prominent trade publications, including SkinInc, Lipgloss + Aftershave, Dermascope, Skin Deep, Les Nouvelles, NASNPRO, and the former Day Spa Magazine. As a recognized expert on sensitive skin, she has been invited to speak and present at internationally respected organizations such as The International Esthetics, Cosmetics and Spa Conference, The International Congress of Esthetics and Spa, Professional Beauty Association, Lipgloss + Aftershave, NASNPRO, and the Esthetician Connection. Kris is committed to philanthropic initiatives, collaborating with Oncology Training International and Look Feel Fab to support hospital programs, including Rush Copley in Illinois and the Virginia Piper Cancer Center in Arizona. Driven by a passion for skincare, Kris dedicates herself wholeheartedly to her esthetic community and her brand followers. Her philanthropic initiatives have expanded their scope to offer advanced education for students and estheticians. As a mentor, she supports the growth of many estheticians' businesses in this specialized industry. With a product line renowned for its efficacy in treating sensitive and health-compromised skin, Kris is now guiding her products to address a broader spectrum of skin conditions and concerns.

Morag Currin, founder of Oncology Training International (OTI), was the first to supply the aesthetics industry with oncology aesthetics training, driven by the need to dispel the myth that aestheticians cannot provide safe services for people living with cancer and other health challenges. This integrative approach to cancer care considers a patient’s identity and helps them regain a positive relationship with their body. Today, OTI is an internationally recognized brand. Mórag Currin is a highly sought-after aesthetic educator with over 27 years of spa industry experience and more than twelve years of training and training management experience. She pioneered the first Oncology Aesthetics® certification for salon/spa professionals and has set the standard in fourteen countries, including her home country, South Africa. Morag is an internationally recognized educator and pioneer in oncology-informed esthetic practice, specializing in the safe, ethical support of clients affected by cancer and complex health conditions. Her work bridges medical understanding with esthetic and wellness care, helping practitioners work confidently within the appropriate professional scope.
Morag employs global education to demonstrate the impact of chemotherapy, radiation, targeted therapies, and immunotherapies on the skin, hair, nails, and lymphatic system, translating this knowledge into practical, evidence-based guidance. Her instructional focus encompasses ingredient safety, contraindications, clinical reasoning, and ethical considerations—particularly when supporting clients during active treatment and recovery. Additionally, she addresses the psychological and emotional effects of treatment-related appearance changes, assisting estheticians in providing supportive, confidence-enhancing care within appropriate professional boundaries. Moreover, Morag is expanding her oncology-centered wellness education through Equine Assisted Learning, an experiential methodology that promotes self-awareness, resilience, and emotional healing, consistent with her commitment to holistic care. Her endeavors position oncology esthetics as a safety-conscious, sustainable profession—rooted in evidence, compassion, and a respect for both clients’ experiences and practitioners’ expertise.
She is the author of foundational texts, including Oncology Esthetics: A Practitioner’s Guide (2009, 2014), Health-Challenged Skin: The Estheticians’ Desk Reference (2012), and Oncology Esthetics (2020), which have helped establish standards for working with medically compromised skin.
